RE: WUTHERING HEIGHTS

Read this book during the daytime when your wide awake because it starts off slowly. I had to reread the first chapter five times in order to understand what was going on. Another caveat, this book is dripping with sarcasm (seriously) so if you don't understand what is going on, that might be a reason.

I think the book is okay. Ummm, it seems like the guest, Mr. Lockwood, is extremely unwelcome by the inhabitants of Wuthering Heights. I'm a little confused at the characters and their relationships with one another. There's Joseph, a servant or groundskeeper, Mr. Heathcliff, the owner of Wuthering Heights, Mr. Lockwood, the newcomer and guest at Wuthering Heights, Mrs. Heathcliff, the daughter-in-law of Mr. Heathcliff (whose husband is still unknown), and Hareton Earnshaw, no known relation yet; however, his name is mentioned earlier in the book as being engraved into the front of the Wuthering Heights estate.

I am only at the beginning of Ch. 3 so I don't have much insight as to what's really going on in the novel. Basically, Mr. Lockwood is just himself getting acquainted with the Wuthering Heights inhabitants. Like Sarah said, there is an air of mystery to this novel, I just have to read further to figure it out.
